【Coming soon】 Reveries of Wedded Bliss: Wedding Photoshoot at Japanese Fairytale Village Shirakawa-go

North Gifu

Life & Culture

Draw ever closer to your beloved and deepen your mutual connection with a kimono wedding photoshoot far beyond the typical, here in the dreamy Japanese fairytale village and UNESCO World Heritage Site, Shirakawa-go. Welcome the concept of "musubi", a profound and essential part of Japanese culture. With multiple meanings such as to tie, to bind, and to link, it also includes the act of bringing forth new creations from the connection between formerly separate entities. From the joining of two households through ceremonial vows in marriage, to the fated meeting between two individuals, and even in the visible representation shown in the tying the obi (sash) of a wedding kimono, “musubi” is ever-present in Japan. We warmly invite you to partake in a day of commemorating and celebrating your love in the context of “musubi” clad in resplendent wedding kimono with photos taken of your time in Shirakawa-go – a beloved village retaining the quaint beauty of the Japanese countryside. Photography will be done while adhering to the established rules and regulations when visiting Shirakawa-go, as well as responsible tourism guidelines. Throughout the photo shoot, an accompanying guide will introduce to you the wondrous scenery of Shirakawa-go along with captivating stories of the local people, culture, and more. Create new, eternal memories of romantic bliss, linking the present to the future as you experience the essence of traditional Japanese weddings through this exceptional photo shoot.

Important Information
・ A dress fitting for wedding kimonos is required the day before the photo shoot as prior adjustments called “itoire” are needed for the outfits. Fittings for Western and other wedding attires are also required on the day before for adjustments.
・ Please make arrangements to stay at a Hida Takayama accommodation as the dress fitting on the day before the photo shoot will be done at Marie Couture, located at Hida Takayama. If your accommodation is within a 15-minute drive from Marie Couture, you will be provided with transportation before and after the dress fitting.
・ Another reason Hida Takayama accommodation is recommended for the night before is due to the possibility of a location change to Hida Takayama in the event of hazardous weather conditions outdoors, such as extreme heat in summer and heavy snowfall in winter, at Shirakawa-go.
・ On the day of the photo shoot, the activity organizers will be giving you a lift by car from Takayama to Shirakawa-go.
・ Staying overnight at a Shirakawa-go accommodation on the day of the photo shoot is recommended.
・ We can customize this wedding photo package to your preferences, from outfit combination like Japanese and Western wedding attires, traditional clothing, and other choices.
・ Total costs may vary depending on the contents of the photo package.
・ Please send inquiries as soon as possible (ideally, from 3 months to 6 months prior) especially for high-demand dates and to allow for advance preparation.
