Clashing Forces, East Meets West: Sekigahara, Japan's Greatest Samurai Battlefield

Relive the day on which Japan's history was forever changed by its largest, most tumultuous and most decisive battle, fought on the grounds of Sekigahara (also one of the world's three major ancient battlefields) in the year 1600. See with your own eyes and tour the very areas ventured by Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder and first shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate, and his opponent, Ishida Mitsunari, as you discover the historical setting of the battle with weaponry and armory. Explore the Gifu Sekigahara Battlefield Memorial Museum, featuring revolutionary technology in showcasing the details of main happenings and people of the battle, as well as exhibits both original and models that you can touch and interact with. Equip yourself with Sengoku armor and weapons, before making your way around the remains of Ishida's base camp and taking commemorative photos. Choose between a lunch of delicious Udon with tempura (in either Eastern or Western-styled broth) plus complimentary souvenir, and Sukiyaki made from famous Omi beef. Turn back time and imagine yourself fighting to the very finish, joining in actions of bravery or perhaps, treachery, in the greatest samurai battle of all - the Battle of Sekigahara.
Recommended points
● Explore Sekigahara, the site of Japan's biggest, most brutal and most decisive of all samurai battles, also one of the world's three major ancient battlefields, through this special course. Imagine the key scenes of the historical drama "Shogun", as you take in a sweeping panorama of the area the way the samurai leaders of the Sengoku period once did centuries ago.
● Discover the Gifu Sekigahara Battlefield Memorial Museum, a state-of-the-art facility housing various features such as the Ground Vision Theater showcasing the unfolding of dramatic events from a bird's-eye view, the beyond-impressive Theater complete with wind, vibrations and lights accompanying the video portraying the key persons and moving moments of the battle, the expansive artifacts and models of weapons and armory used, as well as the 360-degree, glass sided Observation Room on the 5th floor granting you an-all round opportunity to take in the view of the former battle site with informative maps. Your time at the museum will enable you to gain not just a deeper understanding about the battle - it's as close as you can get to traveling back in time and experiencing what the atmosphere of the battlefield was like from that fateful foggy morning at Sekigahara.
● Put on armor fashioned in the style of the famous commanders who valiantly fought in the Battle of Sekigahara, and tour the base camp remains of Western Army leader, Ishida Mitsunari, at Mt. Sasao. Commemorative photo shots are welcome, of course!
● Naturally, while on the soil of the dividing line between Japan's East and West, you get to decide between different lunch choices - Sukiyaki made from highly-acclaimed Omi beef, or delicious Udon with tempura prepared in either the Eastern or Western style at a local restaurant.
